“We moving to FL!” I still couldn’t believe it and I was having a panic attack. We were downsizing from 4250 sq ft to 1800 sq ft - that’s a lot! I was overwhelmed and I knew I was going to need help. I was breathing into a bag - trying to figure out where to start when my daughter called. “Mom - I found someone who can help! The company is Flying Solo Concierge Service. It’s my girlfriend’s mom and she’s been doing this since 2015 - call her!”
I called and Dee Ryan was so helpful - and that was just over the phone. My husband and I thought it would take 6 months. I was so emotional but we embraced the transition. Dee came over that next day and my house was a total mess. She just laughed and said “The way I look at it - if you want the rainbow you have to put up with the rain!”
She managed the whole thing from planning to decluttering to sorting to organizing and finally boxing it up (one room at a time - rinse and repeat). We started with rooms that my husband and I had no emotional attachments to. She gave us colored post-it notes that represented five (5) catagories - Keep, Gift, Donate, Sell and Discard. As we went from room to room it did get easier. I think the hardest part was we went back through the “Keep pile” - we had to ask ourselves “does it serve a purpose? Does it bring joy? Was it used in the lat 12 months?” Our keep pile did thin out.
By the end of 9 weeks, we were ready for the next adventure. Dee helped me through all the ups and downs by refocusing my attention from cherished memories to looking forward to an exciting new opportunity. I highly recommend her service. Rosie M - Oakdale 2024
